Golf Course Superintendent

The primary role of the Superintendent is the oversight of the golf course maintenance and related facilities at Sensei Porcupine Creek. This position manages golf course maintenance staff and is responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, leading the team, and performance management. The     Superintendent oversees the golf course maintenance, making necessary recommendations and decisions to make to ensure optimal course conditions prevail year-round.

 

Responsibilities.

  • Schedule and plan irrigation systems, pesticide applications, related recordings, and compliance with regulatory issues.

  • Work closely with, advise, and coordinate with the Director of Agronomy & Landscape on any issues related to golf course maintenance and landscape operations

  • Provide technical, operational and safety training for employees to ensure that staff is working within OSHA, safety, state and federal guidelines for safe working conditions

  • Train and oversee staff in proper and safe operation and maintenance of mechanical and power equipment

  • Hire, train, supervise and motive staff

  • Schedule, and monitor daily operations, including work assignments and oversight of project completion

  • Make recommendations regarding agronomic planning

  • Oversee employee relations within the department including performance reviews and corrective actions

  • Maintain purchase order system and efficient invoice processes

  • Accountable for the departmental operating budget, monitor, and control departmental operating budget

  • Maintain daily logs & reports to track agronomic systems data, climate predictions, and chemical and pesticide application

  • Maintain knowledge of all technology platforms and applications required for proper maintenance of facilities and grounds

  • Maintain and monitor execution and follow-through of agreed upon daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly communication meetings and resulting actions items and initiatives 

  • Maintain a strong unwavering commitment to ensure employees are well cared for in their daily work and that wellbeing activities and opportunities for growth are provided

  • Any and all related duties as assigned by the Director of Agronomy & Landscape

  • Understand the Sensei mission, philosophy and brand standards and develop a team culture around the core company mission

  • Ensure standard operating practices (SOPs) are in place and regularly updated

  • Lead by example with the ability to mentor, inspire, empathize and establish and communicate clear expectations aligned with the Sensei Culture, brand standards of guest experience and service guidelines

  • Be familiar with the existing and emerging health and safety protocols associated with COVID-19 and how such events have impacted our business, guests, and employees

  • Special projects or other duties as assigned

 

Requirements.

  • Degree in Agronomics, Turf Management or related field, or equivalent

  • Experience as a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent preferable

  • Working knowledge of golf course operations, turf management, fertilizer and chemical application, water management, golf course renovation, irrigation and drainage

  • Experience In employee management

  • Ability to communicate effectively, lead and motivate a team

  • Extensive knowledge of use and operation of all equipment and tools used in golf course and landscaping construction and maintenance

  • Knowledge and understanding of the game of golf, golf rules and methods of play

  • Strong organizational, computer and leadership skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Golf Course Superintendent

Facility:

“Confidential Club” in the desert southwest. Pertinent details will be shared at the appropriate time

 

Duties:

All duties related to being a golf course superintendent including: turf grass management, daily course set-up, managing the irrigation system, pump station, pesticide management, risk management, HR and Administrative tasks, budgeting, monitoring/record keeping, staff development and mentoring, professional development and involvement and other related duties.  Must be a good communicator working closely with the GM, other key staff, guests/members and the owners.

 

Salary:

A base salary to be commensurate with education and experience that will be competitive with like facilities in the area

Requirements:

Must possess at a minimum an associates degree in turf grass management or related field such as agronomy, horticulture, soil science, etc. Must have 3-5 years experience as a golf course superintendent or 5-7 years as an assistant superintendent at a comparable golf facility.

Pesticide applicators license

Valid drivers license with a clean record
