Desert Willow Golf Course is searching for a greens keeper position.   The ideal candidate should have a minimum experience of two years working for a golf course.  Additional experience would include course watering methods, mowing of greens & fairways and knowledge of various golf course machinery.  This position requires early morning start times and some weekends.  A valid driver's license is required.  We offer a very liberal vacation and sick leave policy.  This is an opportunity for the right person to advance their knowledge of golf course operations.  We are a hard-working team that promotes initiative and takes pride in doing a great job.

Head Mechanic Position at Conestoga Golf Club in Mesquite, NV

The shop mechanic is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the shop. Diagnosing and repairing turf equipment, while also responding to equipment issues in the field. Equipment maintenance is also a priority, which would include equipment lubrication, oil changes, sharpening reels and bedknives, etc. Keeping a clean and tidy shop and a good inventory are also important daily tasks. The mechanic shop includes a Foley Accu-Pro reel grinder and a Foley 672 bedknife grinder, as well as a hydraulic lift and tire changing station. The majority of the heavy maintenance equipment and utility vehicles are John Deere. Conestoga Golf Club is a 18-hole public resort-style golf course. The course was built in 2009 with USGA spec. TifDwarf Bermudagrass greens and Tifway 419 Bermudagrass fairways, tees, and rough. Conestoga Golf Club hosts approximately 35,000 rounds per year and was voted "Most Improved Public Golf Course" by Golf Inc. in 2017. Visit the website at http://www.conestogagolf.com/

Job Requirements:

Individual must be able to properly diagnose and repair equipment in a timely manner. Knowledge of all different types of heavy and small turf equipment is required, including mowers, rollers, tractors, sprayers, etc. Experience with reel sharpening and tire changing is preferred. Individual must be able to get him or herself to work on time every day. Mechanic must be an organized and motivated individual.

Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

Desert Willow golf course is looking for an Assistant Superintendent that has a Turf Management 2- or 4-year certificate, or 4-year Agronomist education.  A minimum of two years working as an Assistant Superintendent.  We are a senior community, 55 plus, privately owned and operated.  Desert Willow is an executive par 3 golf course with 6 par 4 holes and a large training facility.  We have 2500 Homes and are in Henderson Nevada.  We are looking for a qualified candidate that is motivated and has chosen golf course maintenance as their true passion.  Bilingual in Spanish/English a plus, playing and understanding the game of golf a plus.

Job Requirements:

  • Assist the superintendent to organize and direct maintenance of all areas within the scope and according to the technical specifications of the contract.  Monitor and communicate turfgrass issues associated with moisture, pests, and disease to golf course superintendent.

  • Supervise the operation, maintenance, and repair of all equipment assigned to the course.

  • Experience in golf course management and turf culture.      

  • Procure and manage supplies and materials to support maintenance activities.

  • Manage golf course maintenance employees. Provide valuable inputs on the interview, hire, training, discipline, and the separation process.

  • Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision.

  • Able to perform basic mathematic calculations, calibrations, and able to convert and understand fractions, decimals, and percentages

  • Protect the company’s interest through an awareness of and compliance with all applicable regulations including course and company policies. Fulfill administrative duties timely.

  • Administer all aspects of the Sun City MacDonald Ranch Safety Program and training.

  • Represent Sun City MacDonald Ranch Golf Maintenance in a positive and professional manner including attitude, appearance, and public relations.

  • Meet or exceed external and internal customer expectations.

  • An awareness of the construction, establishment and maintenance practices employed on golf course including putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs and bunkers.

  • Aptitude for administrative and executive responsibilities including effective oral and written communication skills and computer proficiency.

  • Familiar with the characteristics and proper use of fertilizers and soil conditioners.  Supervises pesticide applications and/or operates and calibrates pesticide application equipment.

  • Knowledge of irrigation including watering practices, irrigation systems, pumps, wells and automatic controls and drainage.  Moisture management and Rain Bird Satellite & IC irrigation system programming and usage. Schedules daily irrigation – This includes ensuring all hand watering and supplemental irrigation is complete as well as programming irrigation computer on a daily basis.

  • Able to prepare the course for play in accordance with the rules of golf.

  • Able to evaluate the course from the player's perspective.

  • Experience with summer to winter wall to wall over seeding with rye grass.

Requirements

    2-4 year degree/certificate in Turf or related Horticultural fields

  • Experience Requirements:
    This will be an entry level position.
