Patrick Parkins Director of Golf Course Maintenance TPC Summerlin

As President of the Southern Nevada Golf Course Superintendents Association, I am proud to reflect on a year marked by meaningful progress, collaboration, and a deep commitment to responsible golf course management across our region.

In the unique and demanding environment of the southwestern United States, sustainability is not simply an initiative—it is a necessity. Our members continue to lead the way in efficient resource management, particularly through the extensive use of recycled water for irrigation. This practice remains central to our mission, ensuring we steward limited water supplies while maintaining conditions that meet the high standards of our golf community. Protecting public health and upholding best‑in‑class water management practices remain priorities in every decision we make.

Looking forward, we anticipate continued advancements in turfgrass management, guided by the principles outlined in the Pest Management Strategic Plan for Turfgrass. By balancing playability, performance, and environmental responsibility, we are preparing our facilities to meet the expectations of today’s golfers while preserving the natural landscape for future generations.

We also recognize the evolving conversations surrounding land use in Southern Nevada. As these discussions grow, the SNGCSA is committed to proactive engagement with community partners, policymakers, and local stakeholders. Our goal is to ensure that golf courses remain valued contributors to environmental stewardship, recreation, and community well‑being.

In all our efforts, our association remains dedicated to innovation, education, and leadership. Through shared knowledge, collaboration, and a forward‑thinking approach, we are well positioned to meet the challenges ahead and embrace the opportunities that will shape the future of golf course management in our region.
